While it is true that in 1999, Aston Martin's Vantage LeMans was king of the horsepower mountain, it was also true that no car made that year could turn heads faster (or harder) than the Lamborghini Diablo. In 1999, Lamborghini gave the model a "facelift" and a little more power, bumping up the 5.7 liter V12 to 529 horsepower.

Interestingly, despite the brutal loveliness of the Diablo's lines, this final product was not quite what it's original designer, Marcello Gandini, had in mind. Chrysler owned Lamborghini while the car was under development, and had final say on the design... and they didn't like Gandini's final draft. Tom Gale from Chrysler is credited with the final design of this stunning supercar.
