Koenigsegg is a killer company that makes killer supercars. Unfortunately, they are also a tiny company that only makes a tiny amount of cars, so the odds of seeing one in person are pretty low. Of their plug-in hybrid, the Regera, the company only plans to build 80 examples.

The Regera's powertrain consists of a 5 liter, twin-turbo V8 making a hefty 800 horsepower, assisted by 3 electric motors with a combined output of 700 horsepower. Yes, the overall total is a staggering 1,500 horsepower, in a car that only weighs 3,500 pounds.

Koenigsegg claims the Regera is the most powerful and fastest accelerating car in the world. They claim the top speed is 255 mph, which they actually have to limit.

Fittingly, the car is full of hi tech features: active aerodynamics on both ends, electronic suspension, "robotic" door and hatch activation, even active motor mounts, which "soften" at low speeds to reduce vibration and make the ride more supple and luxurious. It even has titanium "fishtail" exhaust outlets designed by Akrapovic. The Regera gets our vote for "most outrageous hybrid."
